Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, loved-one, and friend, Sharon Dean, went Home to be with her Savior and LORD Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 9:20AM after a long and courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease. Sharon Ann Dean was born in Quanah, Texas on May 8, 1944 to George and Marcia Sterley. She had two siblings, George David Sterley and Nancy Baugh of Wichita Falls, Texas. Sharon grew up in Amarillo, Texas and graduated in 1962 from Palo Duro High School, the Home of the Fighting Dons. Being a life-long lover of music, she participated in high school choirs, as well enriched the Polk Street United Methodist choir with her beautiful alto voice. She graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She taught high school biology at Wichita Falls High School and W. T. White High School in Dallas, Texas. It was in the biology office in Bolin Science Hall at MSU where she met the love of her life, Joe A. Dean. Joe and Sharon were married at First United Methodist Church on June 14, 1968 and celebrated fifty-four years of marriage in 2022. While stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center, at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas, Sharon and Joe had three children, Elisa Kristine, Amy Katherine, and Mark Alan. Both Joe and Sharon were active in the choir at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church. When Joe resigned his commission from the United States Army in 1979, the family moved home to Wichita Falls, Texas. Throughout the early years, Sharon was involved in PTA volunteer service, the Garden Club, and the Women’s Forum. They were active members of First United Methodist Church, where Sharon taught four-year-old Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Later she and Joe were highly involved in the youth group with their children. Sharon was Joe’s Office Manager when he opened his solo-medical practice on Brook Avenue in Wichita Falls. Eventually, Sharon was instrumental in helping Joe set up a new office at Kell West Medical Center. She was his Office Manager until 2012 when they retired to care for her health. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and sister. While Sharon loved to paint, hummingbirds, flowers, her dogs, and music, she loved Joe and her family more. Her wide smile, cocked eyebrow, grace, and beauty will be cherished by all who know her. Love never dies.
Those who are blessed to be her family are her husband, Joe; her daughter and son in law, Elisa and Murray Zelnick of Forney, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Tony Cedrone of Lewisville, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tanna Dean of Monroe, Washington.; her grandchildren, Tanner and Laurel Cedrone, Carter Cedrone and fiancée, Avery Henderson, Jenna Treen, Andrew Hammons, and Joseph Hammons.
