Sharla Jean Adams

July 15, 1949 - July 28, 2017

Sharla Jean Adams of Allen, Texas passed away July 28, 2017 at the age of 68.  She was born July 15, 1949 to George McKay and Opal (Davis) McKay in Mitchell, South Dakota.  Sharla grew up in Pierre, South Dakota and graduated from Oklahoma State. In May of 1971, Sharla married David John Adams in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where she began teaching. In 1980, their daughter Amy was born and they moved to Allen, Texas. She continued her teaching at Allen High School and McKinney ISD from 1983 until 2008.  Sharla was passionate in her thirty-four years of teaching.  She was an active member of the Allen Retired Educators Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and two Red Hat Societies.

Sharla is survived by her husband, David J. Adams of Allen, Texas; daughter, Amy Bowles and husband Gene of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron, and Zaley; and numerous other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017 at Allen Heights Baptist Church, 1309 East Main Street, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
