Shara Johnson Kargbo, 42 entered into Eternal Life with her Savior Jesus Christ at home in Texas surrounded by her loved ones on March 13, 2023, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Shara was born on February 20, 1981 in Pasadena, Texas. She graduated from McKinney High School and went on to graduate from Hardin-Simmons University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Leadership. In 2021, Shara married the love of her life, Abraham Kargbo, in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Shara loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful and dedicated woman of God. Shara worked tirelessly serving and caring for orphaned and vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. She was affectionately known as “Auntie” Shara and became part of the community, fluently speaking Krio and living amongst and sharing the gospel with those whom she served.
Shara is survived by her husband, Abraham and step son, Junior of Wellington, Freetown, Sierra Leone; parents, Carl and Debbie Johnson of McKinney, Texas; sister, Shana Polser and husband, Chris of Leonard, Texas; grandmother, Alma Johnson of Deer Park, Texas; nephews; John, Henry, James, and Thomas Polser of Leonard, Texas as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends both in the United States and in Sierra Leone.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at First McKinney Baptist Church, 1615 W. Louisiana Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
