IN LOVING MEMORY

Shannon Alexander Riles

Oct 11 1972 - Aug 16 2022

Shannon Alexander Riles passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, after a six-year battle with colon cancer, eventually spreading to his liver. He was 49 years young.

Shannon was born on October 11, 1972, in Santa Clara, California, at Kaiser Hospital as the youngest of three sons to Charles Riles and the late Celestine Riles. He attended Belhaven University, class of 1994.

He was a loving, dedicated, and enthusiastic father of one to Ryan. A baby brother to Stephen and Anthony. A devoted Uncle to Sheridan, Monique, Robyn, and Unissa. Thoughtful Great Uncle to Aubrey, Jaxon, and his two youngest great-nephews, Cooper, and Atlas, whom he did not get the opportunity to meet, but we know he is forever watching over them as he always has for all of his family. No matter how near or far.

Shannon was captivated by his adoration for his son and his determination to seize every opportunity. Witnessed by all, this father and son shared a love that was not only powerful but unbreakable. He will always be in Ryan’s and our hearts, walking and guiding us as he shined and enlightened his son and the world with such brilliance; his legacy will continue long after through us all.

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart” Proverbs 3: 3-4

His greatest pleasure and enthusiasm for life radiated to everyone he encountered. He had a passion for self-growth, educating others on opportunities for continual growth, and he always knew how to bring a smile to your face. To miss someone so much reveals how extraordinarily exceptional they were, and we were beyond fortunate to have him in our lives as family and a dear friend, our very dear and precious "Shan The Man" and “At The Easy!” We are certain he is happy and no longer in discomfort. As much as it aches to be apart, we find solace in knowing he is in paradise, sharing his gifts, and watching over each of us.

His charismatic spirit was admired and will forever be cherished.

Shannon is survived by his son Ryan, brothers Stephen and Anthony, and father Charles; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at The Station. Located at 109 East. Lamar Street, McKinney, TX 75069, from 4 PM – 7:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Shannon’s lifelong commitment to fatherhood and community can make memorial gifts in a donation to the MD Anderson Cancer Center at https://gifts.mdanderson.org/.
