Seferino “Charlie” Mendez of Leonard, Texas passed away in Bonham, Texas on January 25, 2022, at the age of 94. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Seferino Mendez and Celia Ruiz Mendez on November 19, 1927. Charlie married Shirley Marie Nolen Mendez on October 26, 1976, in Greenville, Texas.
Charlie enjoyed buying, selling, and trading vehicles, tractors, and anything he could fix up. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Leonard.
Charlie is survived by his children, Seferino “Joe” Mendez of Mesquite, Texas, David Mendez and wife, Myra Killian of Ladonia, Texas, Cindye Mendez Stanley of Leonard, Texas, Linda Brown of Savoy, Texas, Darren Mendez and wife, Suzanne, of Celeste, Texas, and Jason Mendez and wife, Jennifer, of Wolfe City, Texas; grandchildren, Laurie Mendez, Jonathan Mendez and wife, Morgan, Roxanne Hernandez, Rochelle Alonzo and husband, Michael, Roslynn Raper, Michele Vargas and husband, Rick, Armado Ramos Jr. and wife, Monica, Casey Millett, Michael Nicholson and wife, Monica, Shelby Mendez, Ryder Mendez, and Jalyn Mendez; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Tucker, Piper, Kylie Ann, Gavin, Luke, Jacob, Abigail, Derek, and Devon; and numerous sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Seferino and Celia Mendez; wife, Shirley Mendez; ex-wife, Celestina Montez; and daughter, Diana Ramos.
Services for Charlie will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., at Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, 107 North Elm Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. Family will welcome visitors at a visitation half an hour prior.
Pallbearers for the service are Darren Mendez, Jason Mendez, Jonathan Mendez, Michael Nicholson, Gavin Millett, and Daniel “Eb” Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryder Mendez and Tucker Mendez.
