Scott William Ludlow passed away on February 24, 2024, in McKinney, Texas, at 41. He was born to Warren Jay and Janene (Harris) Ludlow on November 5, 1982, in Aurora, Colorado.
Scott grew up in Plano, where he graduated from Plano East High School, Class of 2001, and excelled in sports, especially baseball. Meeting his one true love, Lauren Gail Carley, while in middle school, they married on July 9, 2004, in Frisco, Texas. After graduating high school, Scott joined the Army Reserves and trained as a medic, finishing at the top of his class. He then graduated from Oklahoma State University, Baylor College of Dentistry, and did his residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center. As a pediatric dentist, Scott owned and operated his own practice. And his patients loved him.
Scott enjoyed golfing, going to the movies, and working out. He was an avid reader and loved the Dallas Mavericks and the Texas Rangers. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was never too cool or too smart for anyone and made everyone around him feel special. He had a silliness about him that would always make you laugh.
Each of his children has special memories with their dad. Jackson and Scott loved to talk sports first thing every morning. They loved a healthy competition—who could lift the heaviest weights or win in arm wrestling (Jackson never won). They loved deep talks about what mattered most in life. Scott loved his firstborn son and is so proud of the man he is.
Leah and Scott had such a fun and beautiful relationship. The love between them was apparent. She loved to challenge him to keep up with the current culture, whether it was a cool TikTok dance or modern lingo. Scott loved to cheer Leah on anything she was doing. She loved watching the Dallas Mavericks with her daddy and hearing about all the players. She especially loved watching Scott get so excited by it all.
Lainey and Scott loved watching the newest teenage dramas together. They loved car rides and jamming out to the latest Taylor Swift album. He loved to sit back and listen to Lainey talk with her great enthusiasm about EVERYTHING in life. Lainey Boo and her daddy were a duo, and he loved her so much.
Gray (a/k/a Tinks) is daddy’s girl through and through. They loved to snuggle. She loved to read to him, and he loved to do dance parties with her and the other kids. Scott spent countless hours playing restaurant or massage parlor. Scott provided whatever his girls wanted or needed, emotionally and spiritually.
Dax (a/k/a Dax-man) is his dad’s boy. He thinks he hung the moon. They love to talk about all things science, ride bikes together, and watch movies. Dax loved to get his tools and help work beside his dad, even if Scott didn’t know what he was building.
Daddy’s little girl, Grace, is the light of Scott’s life. He loved every single thing about this baby of his. He always commented about how hilarious Grace is. Scott loved dancing with Grace, listening to her tell a story, or cuddling and holding her (which Scott did with all his girls).
Scott and Lauren started dating in the 8th grade and never looked back. They always lived life to the fullest. Their common ground was their desire to help and love others, whether helping friends, furthering their careers in healthcare, or fostering and adopting their angels. They always joked that their maturity and sense of humor were stunted at the age they started dating. They never really grew up. No one could make Lauren laugh more than Scott. Scott was (and is) Lauren’s absolute best friend. They traveled to many exciting places and always had the best time together. Their favorite thing was to relax, talk, and laugh. As each other’s biggest cheerleaders, Scott made Lauren a better person, and she believes she did the same for Scott. They also loved to listen to music and dance in the kitchen. The kids used to love to watch and join in. If they ever saw Scott and Lauren hug, they would scream, “Family hug!” and join in.
The coming days and years are unimaginable for those left behind, but Lauren knows Scott is here with her and will be with all of us always. Lauren misses Scott already with every ounce of her soul: her best friend, lover, her everything, and will be until they meet again.
Scott is survived by his wife, Lauren Ludlow of McKinney, Texas; children, Jackson, Leah, Lainey, Gray, Dax, and Grace Ludlow; parents, Warren and Janene Ludlow of McKinney, Texas; brothers, Jeff Ludlow and wife, Abby of Fairview, Texas, Robert Ludlow of Bedford, Texas, and Matthew Ludlow of McKinney, Texas; sister, Lisa Padilla and husband, Mark of McKinney, Texas; parents-in-law, Dave and Jan Carley of McKinney, Texas, sisters-in-law Noralynne Carley and Amanda of Melissa, Texas, Stephanie Carley and Megan of Melissa, Texas, and Megan Robertson and Jared of Darrouzett, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
