Scott Whorton

Scott Whorton, age 66, of Fairview, Texas, passed away July 17, 2011, in Fairview. Scott was born February 23, 1945, in Dalhart, Texas, to Webster Scott and Cora (Embree) Whorton. Scott was a graduate of Stratford High School in 1963 and went to Oklahoma State University prior to serving two campaigns with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He met and married Elizabeth Pummill in 1971. They spent twelve years in the Texas panhandle where Scott was a farmer and rancher. Later, Scott and Elizabeth moved to the Dallas area where they finished raising their family. Scott’s passion was golf, but most of all he cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Whorton of Fairview, Texas; sons, Bradley Scott Whorton and wife, Jaelyn Connally of Plano, Texas and Bryan David Whorton and wife, Stephanie Stinson of Murphy, Texas; daughter, Brittany Whorton Little and husband, James Clifton of Allen, Texas; granddaughters, Sydney Elizabeth Rose Whorton and Ayden Emme Kate Whorton; grandson, Kinsler Scott Little; mother-in-law, Henrietta Lawrence Pummill; brothers-in-law, Charles Lawrence Pummill and wife, Rhonda, John Douglas Pummill and wife, Janet, and David Leonard Pummill and wife, Jo; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private graveside service will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas followed by a memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
