IN LOVING MEMORY

Scott K. "Pappy" Griffin

Mar 17 1945 - Apr 13 2021

Scott Griffin (Pappy), 76, of Denton, Texas, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by the love of his family, on April 13, 2021. Scott was born on March 17, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Dorothy Griffin. He was a mischievous little tyke with deep dimples and a sparkle in his eye (some things never change). He grew up on his family farm in The Colony, Texas (Camey, Texas). He and his brother, Don, were an intricate part of the success of their family farm.

He met Sharon Witt, the love of his life, at the age of 15. She was only 12. Their love for each other grew through the years and they were married in 1965.

They were blessed with three children, Ricky, Angie and Jennifer. Scotty loved being a father. He spent many hours watching his kids participate in football, baseball, softball, soccer, karate, or any activity his children pursued. He would rarely miss an event, except a little prodding was needed to attend dance recitals.

Scotty was preceded in death by his father, John A. Griffin Jr.; mother, Dorothy Leigh Kennedy Griffin; and his only sibling, Don A. Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Witt Griffin; son, Ricky Scott Griffin and his wife, Melanye Siau Griffin; daughters, Angie Shay Lang and special friend, Mike Potocki, Jennifer Leigh Upshaw and her husband, Bryant O'Neil Upshaw; grandchildren, Storm Griffin and wife, Morgan, Antonio Griffin and wife, Alexis, Morgan and Megan Chasser, Mia Lang, Austin Upshaw and his girlfriend, MaKenna Guidry, Cooper Upshaw and his girlfriend, Emily Lechuga, Bailey and Kennedi Upshaw; great granddaughter, Weslynn Griffin.

Friends and family are invited to attend a gathering in remembrance of Scotty on Friday, April 16, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Hickory Creek Baptist Church, 5724 Teasley Lane, Denton, Texas, at 11:00 a.m.
