IN LOVING MEMORY

Scott Everett Lawson

Oct 08 1963 - May 18 2022

The intrepid Scott Everett Lawson was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 8, 1963 and made many places around the world his home.

While Scott studied at Vanderbilt University for a degree in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science, he simultaneously worked as the chief engineer for a start-up company in the new field of medical imaging. His vision and tenacity led him to found Intelligraphics, Inc., one of the first technology companies of the digital age. He became one of the top young technology entrepreneurs in Dallas, Texas with numerous awards for innovation.

Scott was preceded in death by his sister Shannon Fuller; the parents that raised him, Kirby Mooney Lawson, a talented musician and member of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra; and Slick Lawson, a noted photographer. He is survived by his biological father, Del Sawyer, former Dean of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, and his three exceptional daughters, Rachel, Sarah, and Isabella Lawson.

Scott was a loving brother, caring father, and a friend to many.  He achieved excellence in everything he did, including as a competitive motorcyclist; road and mountain bike racer; glider pilot; instrument-rated aircraft pilot and instructor; self-taught musician; ultimate traveler and adventurer; and much more. He was a complex man with endless facets to his life.

Scott passed away unexpectedly on May 18th in Plano, Texas. His memorial is the children he loved, the company he founded, and the extraordinary memories he shared with countless people.

Scott’s life will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends donate in memory of Scott to Camp John Marc, an organization in Texas that shares his passion to heal through adventure.

Scott’s last wishes were that people know he believed and understood the promise God gives to His children in Isaiah 43:1, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
