Saramma Daniel

Saramma Daniel (Kunjujamma), 76, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2018. She was born on May 25, 1941, to Koickamannil Mathai Abraham and Sosamma Abraham in Cherukulanji, Ranni, Kerala (Koickamannil branch of Kolath family in Kozhanchery).  Saramma graduated from St. Thomas High School in Ranni, Kerala, received her nursing education at Pithapuram Christian Medical College in Andhra Pradesh in 1959, and trained at the All India Medical Institute of Nursing in New Delhi.  She married P. G. Daniel in 1964 and worked in Railway Hospital of Jhansi in Uttara Pradesh until 1972.

The family immigrated to New York, New York in 1972 and she started working at the Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan.  After six years, the family moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked at Parkland Memorial Hospital for twenty-five years, retiring in 2003.

Saramma was a member of the Sharon Fellowship Church of Dallas in Mesquite, Texas.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends.  Saramma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her brother, K.A. Abraham; daughter, Leena and husband, Biji; son, Johnson and wife, Anu; daughter, Ann and husband, Jason; son-in-law, Dr. Johny Philips; ten grandchildren, Lindsey, Nicole, Zachary, Daniel, Samuel, Sarah, Steven, Aaron, Evan and Elise.

Saramma was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor P.G. Daniel, daughter, Dr. Reena Daniel, grandson, Daniel Philips, brothers, K. A. Samuel, Kunjapy Abraham, and K. A. Varghese, and sisters, Aleyamma Varghese, Annamma Mathew and Mariamma John.  

She will be remembered for her selfless nature and actions as evidenced by the many Palolil and Kulathumkal family members she helped to bring to the United States.  Her gentle, but tenacious spirit will be missed. 

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Sharon Fellowship Church of Dallas, 940 Barnes Bridge Road, Mesquite, Texas, 75050.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the church.
