Sarah Alice Pharr, age 93, of McKinney, Texas passed away November 30, 2009. She was born January 27, 1916 in Clear Lake, Collin County, Texas to Robert John and Sarah Ann (Spurgin) Russell. Alice grew up in Collin County. She was a long time member at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated church member and served on many committees throughout the years at her church. She loved to quilt and won a blue ribbon for her quilting at the Texas State Fair. Alice loved to cook, play card games and dominoes. She was married to Norman E. Pharr for 53 wonderful years. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was very important to her. She dearly cared for and loved all her family and friends. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Homestead of McKinney for their excellent and loving care. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Ann Lewis and husband, Billy of Castle Rock, Colorado; daughter, Carey Beth McQueary of McKinney, Texas; son, Willie Pharr and wife, Barbara of McKinney, Texas. She was known as “grandmother” and “GG” and was dearly loved by her eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition she is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Sarah Russell; husband, Norman E. Pharr; eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
