Sarah LaVerne Hooten, age 88, of Denison, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2016. She was born September 16, 1928 in Princeton, Texas to Clarence “Butch” Shelton and Grace Manerva (Glass) Cave. Sarah grew up in Princeton, where she graduated high school. She married Roy Hooten and they were happily married for fifty years, before his passing in 1996. Sarah was known as a great cook; she loved to quilt and garden as well. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Sarah was a long time member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughters, Gaye Graham and husband Steve of Denison, Texas, Gail McKinney and husband Nelson of Sunnyvale, Texas; six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Adcock; brother, Bill Cave; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Hooten; and sister, Marie Wardlow.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Thursday morning at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
