IN LOVING MEMORY

Sarah Elizabeth Kindseth

Jan 23 1952 - Dec 07 2017

Sarah Elizabeth (Moline) Kindseth of Plano, Texas, passed away December 7, 2017 at the age of 65.  She was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on January 23, 1952.  Sarah grew up in Joliet, Illinois, and attended Pershing Grade School, Hufford Junior High, and Joliet West High School. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Minnesota and with honors; she earned a PhD in life as well.

Sarah was a beautiful woman who unconditionally loved life. She found pleasure in simple things such as making a pot of wild rice soup for her family or eating a whole box (the big one) of Junior Mints at a show. Sarah was involved in activities from an early age: drama and acting classes, piano lessons, Sunday school and church youth groups, Girl Scouts, summer camp in Wisconsin, water skiing, and the swim team. She competed in hula hoop contests, roller skated and jumped rope for countless hours in the summer, played paper dolls with her sisters on her grandma’s front porch, and spent summer vacations in Marshall and Tracy, Minnesota, visiting her grandparents.

In junior and senior high school, Sarah was active as a student government class officer, band sponsor, yearbook staff writer, and member of countless school committees. She was a delegate to Illinois Girls State. While visiting her grandma in Marshall, Minnesota, in 1971, Sarah met her husband, Drew, on a blind date that led to their marriage in 1973. After finishing her degree, she was an elementary school teacher in Burnsville, Minnesota, until moving to Dallas with Drew in 1978.

In Texas she stayed at home to raise her children, became a youth director for a local church, and then worked for The Container Store for almost 20 years. Sarah retired nearly four years ago to spend time with her beloved grandchildren.

Sarah was loved and admired by all who knew her. She believed in helping others. She built houses through Habitat for Humanity, donated time and money to countless charities, sponsored families at Christmas, led youth group mission trips to Mexico, and volunteered as a reading buddy at a local school.

Sarah and Drew were avid Dallas Maverick fans and long-time season ticket holders. Game night was date night. She loved theater (especially The Christmas Carol at Ford’s Theatre), concerts, music, and dancing with Drew. She never stopped learning: from going to museums (where she spent hours reading every little bit of wall text), listening to books, keeping up with current events, and attending lectures. Most importantly, she made learning fun for her grandchildren, who will forever be curious about the world because of her.

For Sarah, life wasn’t just good, it was great. She celebrated the everyday. The chips at a new restaurant? The best. A new type of crayon for the grandkids (or just for her)? The best. Lyft? The best.  Sarah embraced adventure: camping with Drew on their honeymoon in the Black Hills of South Dakota; taking high tea at Harrods; snorkeling in cenotes and climbing Mayan ruins; learning to make mole sauce in Puebla, Mexico; ordering tapas in Granada, Spain; enjoying dim sum and Cantonese opera with her son in Hong Kong; and “snitching” geraniums in Gibraltar under cover of night for her daughter's wedding.

What Sarah did best, however, was support and love her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, parents, extended family, co-workers, friends, and even people whom she'd never met. She was the proudest Mom and Gramma on earth. She loved celebrating holidays with her family. Sarah transformed her home into a Christmas wonderland one final time before leaving us. And we intend to enjoy it, knowing we will feel her presence.

She is survived by her husband, Drew Kindseth of Plano, Texas; daughter, Anne Kindseth (husband Josh Beaty) of Garland, Texas; son, Tim Kindseth of Decorah, Iowa; grandchildren Olive Beaty and Jude Beaty; sisters Monica Wilson of Alpharetta, Georgia; Mary Darin of Puerto Morelos, Mexico; Martha Moline of The Colony, Texas, Jenny Meslow of Stillwater, Minnesota; and Sally Logsdon of The Colony, Texas.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Patricia (Maloney) Moline and Wilbur “Pete” Moline; brother, Peter Moline; and a very special nephew, Peter Meslow.

A celebration of Sarah's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Memorials may be made in Sarah’s memory to the Stronghold Ministry, a cancer ministry in Dallas that she and Drew supported whose purpose is to help patients fighting cancer and provide comfort to their families. To contribute, visit:http://www.mystronghold.org/donate/
