Sandra Lynn “Sandi” (Zwierzynski) Norris, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away to her heavenly home on August 8, 2022. She was born on March 11, 1944, in Tampa, Florida, at MacDill Air Force Base, where her father was stationed during his military service.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bernice (Babinski) Zwierzynski; all her grandparents; all of her aunts and uncles; and some of her cousins.
She is survived by beloved husband, Raymond Norris, Sr.; dearest sons, Raymond Norris Jr., Bradley and wife, Jennifer Norris; grandsons, Trenton and Dylan Norris, sons of Raymond Jr.; and granddaughter, Julee Norris, daughter of Bradley and Jennifer, all residing in Texas; Sandi’s sisters, Suann (Ken), Brenda of Winnetka, Illinois, and Sharyl (Dan) Dippel of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Sandi was raised in South Bend, Indiana, attended St. Casimir Catholic Grade School, graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. She attended Purdue University where she majored in Elementary Education and Sociology. She belonged to Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Her greatest achievement at Purdue was meeting the love of her life, Raymond Norris, who she married on January 23, 1965.
The life adventures started: After the wedding Sandi and Ray moved to Akron, Ohio, where she taught in a Catholic Grade School, then to Hartford, Connecticut where their first child was born, next to Allentown, Pennsylvania where their second son was born, onward then to Minnetonka, Minnesota, Fullerton, California, and finally settled in Fairview, Texas in 1993. Sandi was an administrative assistant at the JC Penney headquarters for 15 years and retired in 2008.
Sandi was active in her St. Jude Catholic Parish, Allen, Texas; member of the first group of “Christ Renews His Parish” (CRHP I) ladies, Eucharistic Minister, Bereavement Committee, and her favorite as Religious Education teacher and aide with the Sixth-Grade students. She always had a smile for everyone.
Sandi’s greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. Grandma cherished every minute with her three grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Ave, Allen, Texas 75002. A rosary service will begin at 9:20 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow the funeral mass in the Parish Hall.
