Sandra Kay Buck of Lucas, Texas passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on October 17, 1947, to loving parents Dewey Burge and Glenna (Cunningham) Burge in Princeton, Louisiana.
Sandra graduated from Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana. While in High School she met Ronald Buck and began dating in 1963. Shortly after graduating, she married Ronnie on September 25, 1966, in Haughton. The couple moved to Dallas in 1977 with their 2 daughters, where Sandra devoted her career to teaching special education within the Plano Independent School District.
Beyond her professional life, Sandra loved to paint, read, travel and cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to dance, act silly, sing old country songs, play cards, practice with her grandchildren how to act at a fancy dinner, eat chocolate ice cream, have slumber parties, have tea parties, and pray with all her kids and grandkids. She loved to have a good time with her family which was the most important thing to her. She was an active member of First Methodist Church in Allen, Texas, where she was known for her warm spirit and dedication to her faith and community.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Buck of Lucas, Texas; her loving daughters, Sharon Pohlman of New Orleans, Louisiana and Gwen Fischer (Mark) of Allen, Texas. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Christian Pohlman of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Jacob Pohlman (Vee) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Hallie Fischer of Dallas, Texas, Max Fischer of Allen, Texas, Heidi Taylor (Isaac), First Great-grandchild on the way of Dallas, Texas, and Marcela Fischer of Allen, Texas. Her brother-in-law Charles Buck (Lynda) of Haughton, Louisiana and Sister-in-law Joyce Winkler (Jim) of Houston, Texas. Sandra's memory will also be treasured by numerous other loving family members, friends and especially the latter years where she struggled with Alzheimers and she was given comfort from her caregivers Patris, Natasha, Claris, Snatra, Sky, Judy and others who became her family also.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Glenna Burge, her 3 brothers, 6 sisters, her son-in-law, Michael Pohlman and Ernest and Betty Buck her father in-law and mother in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at First United Methodist Church of Allen, 601 S. Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Sandra's memory.
