Sam “POS” Lanier, of Allen, Texas, passed away at the age of 81. Born on June 13, 1943, in Allen, Texas, to Samuel Elmo Lanier and Hattie Vesta (Stratton) Lanier. Sam was a proud graduate of Allen High School, Class of 1961.
Sam enjoyed a distinguished 33-year career in the telecommunications industry, working as a shipping foreman for Collins Radio, Rockwell International, and Alcatel. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and the relationships he built over the years.
A devoted father, Sam was especially active in his children’s lives, especially serving as a strong supporter of their involvement in the FFA.
On May 26, 1994, Sam married Carol Cooper, in Rockwall, Texas. Together, they shared a life filled with love and cherished moments.
Outside of his professional life, Sam had a passion for golf, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, traveling, and, above all, a deep love watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their sporting activities. His presence at their events was a testament to his devotion to family. He attended Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. Sam was deeply rooted in his faith and cherished the friendships and community he built there.
Sam will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is fondly remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and the many ways he touched the lives of those around him. Sam will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lanier of Allen, Texas; son, Barry Lanier and wife, Cindy of Stephenville, Texas; daughter, Darla Kerico and husband, Conway of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Lanier and wife, Chelsea, Morgan Wills and husband, Chris, Travis Lanier, Cayden Kerico, and Blayne Kerico; great-grandchildren, Barrett Lanier, Jaxson Lanier, Quaid Lanier, Blakely Greenwell, and Brody Greenwell; stepbrother, Jon Barrett; and a host of other loving family members and dear friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Vesta Lanier; brothers, James Lanier and Gereld Lanier; and stepbrother, Jim Barrett.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
