IN LOVING MEMORY

Sam Douglas Daughrity

Dec 03 1941 - Dec 04 2021

Sam Douglas Daughrity departed this earth surrounded by family on December 4th, 2021, in Denison, Texas. He was born on December 3rd, 1941, in Trenton, Texas, the second child of Samuel and Pauline Daughrity of Trenton, Texas.

Sam was a long-time employee of over 30 years at Johnson and Johnson in Sherman retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Country Chapel Baptist Church, Denison, Texas.

Sam was a devoted husband, dad, and Papa and will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He brought laughter to every gathering and was known for his quick wit. He enjoyed camping at Lake Texoma, playing golf, eating his favorite foods, and being around his family. He could always be counted on to be watching the football game and the daily news, so he’d never miss a weather forecast. Life without him seems unimaginable but we know he’s singing with the angels now.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Paula Sue Barnes. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda Daughrity of Denison; sons, Steve Daughrity, and wife Teresa Daughrity, of Denison and David Daughrity of Whitewright; brother, Gary Daughrity of Little Elm; niece, Debbie Reiter and husband Jim of Whitewright; grandchildren, Dustin Daughrity and wife Rebecca of Denison, Amber Daughrity and Jason Brewton of Krum, and Ashley Franklin and husband Jeremy of Whitewright. “Papa” also has three great-grandchildren Allie, 5, JJ, 2, and Amelia, 1 with another great-grandchild due in July of 2022.

Funeral Services will be held 2PM Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. Interment will follow at Burns Cemetery, Trenton, Texas. Pallbearers will be Steve Daughrity, David Daughrity, Dustin Daughrity, Jeremy Franklin, Jason Brewton, and Tyler Wood.
