Ruth Laverne (George) Thompson of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 2, 2021 at the age of 97. She was born on October 3, 1923 to Roy L. George and Janie F. (Brimer) George in Weston, Texas. Ruth married Burl Glenn Thompson on April 6, 1946 in McKinney, Texas. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of McKinney.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Ronney Thompson and wife, Laura of Leonard, Texas and Steve Thompson and wife, Toni of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jill Pharr and husband, Bo, Jay Thompson and wife, Lindsay, Ryan Thompson and wife, Christin, and Seth Thompson; 10 great-grandchildren, Jase, Raeley, Jenna, Taylor, Tayton, Bailey, Clara, Abby, Keilan and Gracie; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Janie George; husband, Burl Glenn Thompson; sisters, Oleta Godwin and Emily Beyer and her brother, Clarence George.
The family will receive friends and family for a “come and go” visitation that will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and before the funeral service at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Ruth’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/ruth-laverne-thompson. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.
However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Ruth and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone).
Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle.
