IN LOVING MEMORY

Ruth Viola Stolz

Dec 18 1924 - Mar 24 2019

Ruth Viola Stolz, 94, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Allen, Texas surrounded by the love of her family both near and far. Born December 18, 1924, in Hancock, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Edward and Catherine Hendershot Divel.

Ruth lived a long and full life devoted to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Her warmth and kindness was felt by all who knew her. During the greatest times of adversity as she fell ill, Ruth proclaimed with great pride and dignity “you may as well be happy as be sad”. She was full of life and fought hard to overcome her illness. Through God’s grace, Ruth enjoyed many more years with her family whom she loved the most.

Ruth enjoyed playing the guitar and singing along to music and creating beautiful works of arts and crafts.  She loved being with her family during the holidays and celebrating countless birthdays. Ruth was the sweetest of souls and her loss was deeply felt. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband, John S. Stolz; two wonderful daughters, Katie Mae Lowther and Gloria Jean Kelly; devoted son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin A. Stolz and Nancy P. Perliski; grandchildren, John and Cara Stolz, Edward Lee Radford, Jr., Patrick Radford, Billy and Richard Shaw, Julie Ann Reed, Christie Beckner, Cricket Pelt and Karen Garner; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her five sisters, Becky Whirley, Mary Whirley, Edith Flowers, Ethel Miller and Helen Divel; six brothers, Harry Hendershot, Russell Divel, John Divel, Marshall Divel, Lester Divel and Earl Divel; two daughters, Patricia Ann Radford and Frances Pearl Whirley; and one granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013 with Father Tony O’Donovan officiating.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
