Ruth Pauline Westbrook, a cherished resident of Garland, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born to Iris Louise (Craig) Crow in McAlester, Oklahoma; Ruth's life was a testament to dedication and compassion.
A proud graduate of McAlester High School in 1958, Ruth embarked on a journey defined by selflessness and devotion. Following her graduation, she dedicated her time to nurturing her family, wholeheartedly embracing the role of a devoted stay-at-home mom. Later in life, driven by a passion for caring for others, she charted a new path in healthcare, diligently attending classes and carving a treasured career in healthcare. Ruth married David K. Westbrook on June 2, 1972, in Durant, Oklahoma.
For over two decades, she served with unwavering dedication at Texas Vascular Associates as a licensed vocational nurse. Her exceptional care and love for her patients made her a highly esteemed healthcare professional and co-worker, touching countless lives through her kindness.
A long-time member of the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, Ruth found solace and strength in her faith. Beyond her professional commitments, she found joy and fulfillment in hobbies such as ceramics and exploring the culinary world through her collection of cookbooks. Her passion for cooking and penchant for shopping were expressions of her vibrant spirit and generous nature.
Above all else, Ruth cherished her family. Her love knew no bounds when it came to her beloved family members. Her warmth, guidance, and unwavering support formed the cornerstone of her family's lives, leaving a lasting mark of love and kindness on all who knew her.
Ruth Pauline Westbrook leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her wonderful soul.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David K. Westbrook of Garland, Texas; daughter, April Brinkman and husband, Kyle of McKinney, Texas; sons, David L. Westbrook and wife, Regina of Tyler, Texas and Craig Westbrook and wife, Rebecca of Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren, Cody, Caleb, Connor, Alexis, Caitlan, Sarah, Abby, and Jordan; five great-grandchildren, Jonah, Elijah, Tucker, Luke, and Caroline; sister, Martha Brock and husband, John of Garland, Texas; and niece, Stephanie Campbell and daughter Ashley of Garland, Texas.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
