Ruth Nell King Skeeters, age 92, entered Heaven’s gates to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Ruth was born in Bartlett, Texas to Nellie Larkins Willis and Samuel David King on September 3, 1923. She was the third child of seven children.
She grew up in central Texas and graduated from Temple High School in 1941 and attended one year of Junior College there. She married Dock M. Hicks on January 9, 1943 and they had one child, Patricia Jean Hicks. They were divorced in 1949. She later moved to Dallas, Texas. She married O. C. (Skeet) Skeeters on August 29, 1963. He died in December 1991.
She was active in her church, Highland Presbyterian Church. She belonged to Charity League and three different book clubs. She did an awful lot of traveling after Skeet died. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Pugh, two sisters Margaret Gaines and Betty Daley, four grandchildren Mitch Hodge, Keith Hodge, Shaun Pugh and Kelly Pugh, and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home, 107 N. Washington Street, Farmersville, Texas 75442. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemeteries & Mausoleum in Shreveport, LA 71103. Rev. Ray Adams will officiate.
