IN LOVING MEMORY

Ruth Ann Cooper

Sep 26 1930 - Nov 13 2024

Cooper, Ruth Ann (Haaser), age 94, McKinney, Texas peacefully passed on November 13, 2024.  Beloved wife of Hugh E Cooper for 68 years and survived by her children; Linda Weaver (Jeff), Pam Brunk (Jamie), Tina Nelson (Steve), Brian Cooper (Annie), Randy Cooper (Lisa); 12 Grandchildren (Jessica, Jill, Jaclyn, Tim, Olivia, Ryan, Aaron, Josh, Kelsey, Logan, Andrea, Kiefer); and 8 great Grandchildren (Cooper, Maggie, Annabelle, Ryanne, Taylee, Ella, Connor, Palmer).

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Hugh, and her 3 elder siblings, Anna Marie, Margaret and Bud.

Raised in Bucyrus, Ohio, after high school graduation she enrolled in Stevens College to pursue a career in fashion design.  Her college career was shortened when she met the love of her life, Hugh Cooper.  After just 3 dates, Hugh proposed to “Ruthie”; the couple knew they would be life partners and were married on September 1, 1952.

Ruth was the foundation for the family, working tirelessly to build a home, take care of her 5 children and to give unwavering support to her husband Hugh.  From the very beginning, when Ruth hand sewed her wedding gown to her peaceful passing, she paid the closest attention to everything she did; from maintaining the house to preparing delicious and beautiful meals for the family.

Her husband’s professional life afforded Ruth the opportunity to live in many places in the US, evidenced by her 5 children being born in 4 different states.  Ruth loved gardening and took pride in her flowers, winning multiple Garden Club awards.  She was a lover of cruises and visiting Europe to connect to her German ancestry.  A lover of birds, she always had bird feeders for her little friends, with her favorite being hummingbirds.

Given distances and in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Hidden Springs Memory Care, McKinney, Texas.
