Rufus A. Garrett of Princeton, Texas passed away on May 15, 2016 at the age of 86. He was born on May 20, 1929 to Clarence and Annie Estelle (Klutts) Garrett in Rockwall, Texas. Rufus married Loretta Mantooth on May 23, 1952 in Melissa, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Rufus was always trying to help anyone in need and enjoyed working on vehicles. If he saw someone with car trouble, he would always stop and help. Rufus enjoyed his jobs working at the bank and car lot. He loved spending time and talking with those who would stop by. Rufus was a very loving man and loved spending time with his animals but most of all; he was dedicated to his wife and family.
Rufus is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta Garrett of Princeton, Texas; son, David Garrett and wife Amy; grandchildren, John Nicks, Josh Bail, Rachel Bail, and Shaina Bail all of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, John Travis Nicks, Zander Nicks, Eli Nicks, and Tatum Nicks; and several nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence Garrett and Lester Monroe Garrett; and sister, Annie Marie Pippen.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home chapel in Allen, Texas with Pastor Chad S. Rowell officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
