Rubye Lorenz, age 85, passed quietly in her home on the morning of May 26th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in rural Success, Arkansas on February 7, 1937.
Rubye was passionate about life and living it to the fullest extent it has to offer. She was well traveled and visited a number of places: including Ireland, Holland, Italy, Paris, Amsterdam, Alaska, Costa Rica, Vegas, and many, many others.
Rubye began her professional career at Southwestern Bell in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, and was lucky enough to watch the Arch being built from the ground up right outside her window. She ended her professional career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Rubye worked from the age of 14 - 84, pausing briefly in the middle to care for her young children.
After retirement, she held a job at Lone Star Wine Cellars in McKinney, where she lived her best and most famous life! Rubye made many, many friends and never met a stranger.
Throughout her years, she was an active member of PTA, Girl Scouts, Heard Natural Science Museum, Allen Senior Center, the Red Hats, and many other social groups and travel clubs. Rubye was also a gracious donor at both Choctaw and WinStar Casinos!
Rubye cherished her relationships with family and friends and was most at home in the country surrounded by her grandchildren, children, all who called her family, beautiful trees, wind chimes, horses, countless pets, wild birds, and any animal that crossed her path.
She lived life to the fullest and set an example her family is honored to follow.
Rubye was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Willia Pond, and siblings, Verda Davis, Vonda Jones, and Bob Pond.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Wood and grandchildren, Sydney and Zachary Wood, and son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Beth Lorenz and grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Lorenz.
