Ruby Dale Woodard, age 90, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. Known by her family and friends as Dale, she was born in Henderson, Rusk County, Texas on October 5, 1930. Her family moved to Dallas in 1941, where she attended schools and remained in the area during her lifetime. In December 1946, she married RB Woodard and they raised a family of 4 children. They had been members of Morrell Avenue Baptist Church in Oak Cliff, but eventually became active members of Ferguson Road Baptist Church in East Dallas, which was closer to their next home, and later joined Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Plano.
Dale was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, James Ladd Burgess Lodge, for over 50 years. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1970 through the Dallas Vocational Nursing Program and worked for many years in a private medical practice. After retirement, every October, she and RB enjoyed their time working together with friends at the State Fair of Texas, taking cruises, mission trips and adventure trips visiting family and friends across the US. Through her career, church, organization memberships and travels, Dale made many lifelong friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Beth (Richardson) Wyatt of Louisiana, Susan (Richardson) Cooksey of Mesquite, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary (White) Richardson of Garland, Texas; four children, Olevia Sparks of Dunedin, Florida, Angie (Cameron) Neal of Plano, Texas, Bruce (Tammy) Woodard of Frankston, Texas, and Pam (Preston) Jones of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many others who loved her dearly.
Dale was preceded in death by her husband, RB; parents, Richard Sidney and Ida Odell (Wright) Richardson; brothers, Lynn Odell Richardson, Thomas Henry Wright Richardson; and son-in-law, Joe T. Sparks.
