Ruby Jewel Brasher

Ruby Jewel Brasher of Dallas, Texas passed away July 23, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born November 5, 1930 to Kizzie Baker and Aaron Lee Rice in Melissa, Texas. Ruby grew up in Anna, Texas and in Garland, Texas. She graduated from Garland High School in 1948. Ruby married Hoyt Homer Brasher on March 6, 1950 in Greenville, Texas. She worked as the deli manager at Baylor Hospital in Garland, Texas. Ruby enjoyed bowling in her spare time.

She is survived by her sons, Homer Lee Brasher of Arlington, Texas, Martin Wayne Brasher and wife, Emily of Mineola, Texas, William Earl Brasher of Princeton, Texas and Richard Rice Brasher of Mineola, Texas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; brother, Marvin Henry Rice of Garland, Texas; sister, Edna Earl Carpenter of Bethea, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hoyt Brasher; son, Marvin Randall Brasher and her brother, Hugh Lee Rice.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of 100 guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, and will also be live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on Ruby’s obituary page.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Ruby and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
