Roye Jan Myers

Feb 11 1944 - Aug 20 2026

Roye Jan Myers of Fairview, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, surrounded by her immediate family. She was 82 years old.

Jan was born on February 11, 1944, in Granite, Oklahoma, to Roy Clem and Joyce Paxton. She grew up in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where she attended Midwest City High School before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Jan married Paul Myers on July 11, 1965 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Their life together was a testament to the enduring importance of family, love, and companionship.

Jan devoted more than 20 years to teaching art in the Plano Independent School District. She brought creativity, encouragement, and a genuine love of art to her students, inspiring generations of young people to find their own voices through creativity.

Her passion for art continued long after her teaching career. Following her retirement, Jan spent another 15 years as a gallery artist, continuing to create and share her work with others. Art was more than a career or a hobby for Jan—it was a meaningful part of who she was and how she experienced the world.

Above all, Jan treasured her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her creativity, her generous spirit, her dedication to her students, and the love she gave so freely to the people around her.

Jan is survived by her husband, Paul Myers of Fairview, Texas; her children, Trent Myers and wife, Lori, of Dallas, Texas, and Jason Myers and fiancée, Dana Stickley of Saint Joseph, Missouri; her three grandchildren, Rachel Myers, Sarah Myers, and Emma Myers; and her sister, Cathy Choate and husband, Larry, of Stratford Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Clem and Joyce Paxton.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from Tuesday afternoon, August 25, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Church of Christ on McDermott Road, 3600 McDermott Road, Plano, Texas 75025. She will return to her birthplace with a graveside service the following day.

Jan's artistic spirit, devotion to her family, and the lives she touched through her teaching and creativity will remain a lasting part of her legacy. She will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to know her.
