Royce Glenn Godwin

Royce Glenn Godwin, age 69, passed away October 7, 2025, in McKinney, Texas.  He was born on November 29, 1955, in McKinney, Texas, to his loving parents James Albert Godwin and Nora Viola (Thorn) Godwin.

A 1974 graduate of Princeton High School, Royce dedicated much of his career to serving with the Texas Department of Transportation, within maintenance and construction departments. He was a devoted member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, where he faithfully served as a deacon and was deeply respected by his church family. Royce loved spending most of his free time in a deer stand, hunting in multiple parts of Texas and New Mexico,  although he did love everything regarding the outdoors.

Royce met the love of his life, Crystal McDermott and they were married on February 27, 1998. They later went on to be blessed with their only child Madeleine Godwin in August 2002, who went on to share his love of all things outdoors.

Royce is survived by his wife, Crystal Godwin, of Princeton, Texas; daughter, Madeleine Godwin, also of Princeton, Texas; sisters, Brenda Honea, and Myra Pickens; and numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, who will forever miss him and cherish his memory.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents James and Nora Godwin.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Waddill Street Baptist Church, 1401 North Waddill Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Princeton Cemetery, 220 Yorkshire Drive, Princeton, Texas 75407 for a committal service.  

The family will receive guests during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family has requested In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Waddill Street Baptist Church. In honor of Royce. As he loved the church very much.
