Royce E. “Gene” Dotson of McKinney, Texas passed away January 1, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born on November 9, 1932 to John Wayne Dotson and Cassie Myrtle (Gallaher) Dotson. Gene served his country in the United States Army. He married Vivian L. Davis on November 8, 1952 in Blue Ridge, Texas and they enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage before her passing in 2020. In 1969, they moved to Hammond, Indiana, where they became active members of the First Baptist Church of Hammond. Gene and Vivian focused on their own business, Lake County Bus Company in Gary, Indiana until their retirement. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Pentecost, Kynn Dotson and wife, Karen, Kristi Crawford; grandchildren, Bradley Pentecost, Stephanie Cox and husband, Stephen, Kyle Crawford and wife Camellia, Amber Payne, Aaron Crawford; great-grandchildren, Delilah, Hayden Royce (due 5/22), Aubree, Charles, Caesar, Rebel, Winter, Corbin, Lara and Bernie; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian; parents; son-in-law, Gary Pentecost; and siblings Thelma, Zula, Eulallia, Stacia, Lene, Byron, Vida, Sam and Doug.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
