Royce D. Call

Royce D. Call 89, graduated to heaven on April 17, 2021 at the Bonham VA CLC. He was born on September 30, 1931 in Gober, Texas, the son of Willie Ray "W.R." Call and Willie Williams Call.

Royce graduated from Bailey High School, Class of 1949. Shortly after graduation he served his country proudly as a platoon Sergeant in the US Army (Tank Brigade Company) during the Korean conflict and he was stationed in S. Korea. He received a Bronze Star Medal. Following active duty, Royce attended and graduated from ETSU in Commerce where he met his wife, Sue Hutcherson Call. They were married on August 23, 1958 in Bailey, Texas. Royce was a devout member of First Baptist Church in Trenton, where he served as deacon since 1972. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Texas Cattleman’s Association. His chosen career path was an industrial arts teacher and a farmer/rancher. He loved the outdoors and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Doris Mackey and Imogene Sells. He is survived by his wife, Sue Call; are his sons Larry Call and his wife Dawn of Murphy, Texas, Michael Call and his wife Tanya of Trenton, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Call, Jake Call, and Katarina Otto; one brother John Call, six sisters Loyce Murley, Sophie Lansdale, Retha Owens (Dalton), Nancy Alexander (Donald), Thelma Stalcup (Bob), Carolyn Johnson (Jimmy); and many nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright Texas at 2:30pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 with visitation starting at 1:45pm proceeding the service. Rev. Douglas Peebles will officiate. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church, Trenton, Texas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Copeland and Pete Woodruff. Military Honors will be performed by the Fort Hood Honor Guard. Private interment will follow at the Randolph/Lindsey Cemetery, Randolph, Texas.
