Roy Ray Horton

Roy Ray Horton was born to Claude and Eura Hickman Horton on October 5, 1936.  He went to his heavenly home on October 18, 2018, after a long battle with dementia.  He graduated from Farmersville High School in 1955.  He married Shirley Hall Horton on September 1, 1979 in Farmersville, Texas where they made their home.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Farmersville and the Roundup Cowboy Church in Blue Ridge, Texas.  His career was in the automotive repair business.  He was service manager at Bob Tedford Chevrolet for many years until he opened his own business.   He was not only a mechanic but he was also a house builder, electrician, plumber; generally, a jack-of-all–trades.  If it was broke he could fix it.  He loved his family and he loved the Lord.  He also loved old cars and spent most of his retirement years rebuilding classic cars.  He was a member of the Greenville Antique Car Club and enjoyed going to swap meets and cars show to show off his handiwork.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley; son, Derrell Horton and wife, Belinda of Anna, Texas, son, Gerald Horton of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Watson and husband, Dana of Farmersville, Texas; son, Mitchell Selman and wife, Pamela of Farmersville, Texas; grandsons, Dustin Watson of Farmersville and Christopher Horton of Anna; granddaughters, Samantha Selman and Ashley Moss and husband, Chance of Farmersville; great-granddaughter, Hayden Watson of Farmersville; great-grandsons, Casen Watson of Farmersville and Carson Carrell of Farmersville; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Weldon Horton and Hildon Horton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Hurst's Fielder Baker Funeral Home, 107 North Washington Street, Farmersville, Texas. Interment is to immediately follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Farmersville, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
