Roy Miller died on August 29, 2009 at his home in Dallas Texas, ending his battle with cancer. He was 57 years old. Born Leroy C. Miller Jr. on September 12, 1951 to parents Leroy C. Roy was the father of two sons and was known as “Poppy” to his five grandchildren.
After graduating with honors from Auburn University in 1974, Roy embarked on a remarkable career that would span 35 years, literally taking him around the world, building large-scale projects for many U.S. Government agencies and private sector clients. Combining a natural talent with his extraordinary work ethic, he excelled in his profession and was widely known for bringing in his projects ahead of schedule and under budget. True to form, Roy finished his life well ahead of schedule.
He is survived by his wife Nina Miller, their sons Leroy C. Miller, III (Chet) and wife Jayme of Panama City FL; Charles Joseph Miller (Chuck) and wife Misty of Dallas TX; sister Elaine Holt and husband Tommy of Jasper AL; brother Johnny Miller and wife Madalyn of Ozark AL; father-in-law Joe Meacham and wife Dot of Elba AL; brother-in-law John Meacham and his wife Mattie of Fort Worth TX; brother-in-law James Meacham and his wife Cecile of Prattville AL; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Chet and Jayme’s daughters Morgan, Emily, Grace, and Chuck and Misty’s sons Carter and Carson.
Roy was a loving husband and father, a devoted brother and son, and loyal friend. Throughout his life, his strong faith guided him and served to make him the remarkable man that he was, leaving his mark on all who met him. He will be missed by so many, who may take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with his Heavenly Father. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Elba, Alabama on Friday September 4th, at 2:00pm.
