It's been nearly a year since Rowdy left us. I was reading back in my journal of 1985 and there was an entry or two about three wonderful boys spending the night on the trampoline: Rowdy, Willie and Chad (my nephew). They went fishing with Chick the next morning, but the night on the trampoline I remember. They jumped and laughed and played loud music. I thought I would never get to sleep. I miss those boys who became men in the blink of an eye! Sandy Templin, January 13, 2010 It is 8/19/09 and I just found out about Rowdy. I am in disbelief knowing how full of life he was.We went to JL Greer when he lived on College street, we were just down the street. I am so very sorry for your loss and he will be in my memories and you all are in my prayers. Angelia Diane Robbins (Lee), August 19, 2009 DEAR BARNES FAMILY & ROWDY WIFE AND KIDS I remember a many things about Rowdy growing up on the corner of college and josephine st. I rember when we all used to play baseball over at the old diamond at J L Greer. He and Willie used to always come over and make the teams even. All the way through middle school he used to always make shure the little man didn't get picked on. I remember one time when we where all in high school he talked Mable Phillips from throwing some girl from the balcony. he has always been the goto guy.I know that after high school alot of us went our own way but even though we did our memories will always remain. Mrs.Barnes, Rowdy has not left you he has gone too make a way for the day that you are reunited back together again. My prayer for you and your family is that God will send a comforter to be with you and help you through the good times and the bad. Anytime you fell down just find you a quite place and cry out to God for he will never leave you nor forsake. I can't explain why he took Rowdy from us,but I can tell you no matter how bad something may seem to be it always happens for a reason. Rowdy till we meet again at the big diamond in the sky Love You Brother Willie Iknow that now your brother is gone that you will be his keeper. Duncan, March 13, 2009 I met Rowdy thru Yolanda and her boys. Rowdy was at Burger King one day about 10 years ago, he and I sat and talked while his kids and my grandson played. He impressed me very much, sounded like he had his good times with his kidos. He was a nice guy and I am sorry he ws called home. My prayers are for all his family and many friends. Yolanda is my niece, Janell was my sister, and we just lost my Mom on March 5th. May God be with you all and bring you comfortat this time. Laverne Patterson Laverne (Rogers) Patterson, March 11, 2009 Dear Barnes/Hernandez families: I am so very sorry for your loss. I've known Rowdy since the 5th grade, I believe, when after grade school, everyone came together at one school. Rowdy was a kind soul with a sweet smile, and a very generous heart. I'm sure he was a wonderful husband, and from the pictures I saw at the visitation, he looked like a great and proud daddy. He will definitely be missed. There really are no words to comfort one at this time, you really just have to give it to God, and know that everything happens for a reason, that which is not for us to question. May the Lord wrap you in His warmth and wisdom in your time of sorrow. Mary I. Dunn, March 9, 2009 We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We have always loved your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please know God is there for you and well never leave you. Steve & Lyn Horton, March 7, 2009 Born in 1970 was a man who was Heavenly. Sent by God and protected by angels to love people right and untie lifes tangles. He was a light when paths were dark and loved people with his big Texas heart. He enjoyed the simple things in life like pulling people out of the mud and helping them out under the hood. He was a hard working man that earned every penny and now he is in heaven where he will be missed by many. by: Conner Williams (nephew) Conner Williams, March 7, 2009 went to school with both brothers sorry for the lost betsy rutledge, rushing, March 7, 2009 To Rowdy's Family... Dale Marksberry, March 5, 2009 Rowdy and I grew up together throughout our teenage years and as adults were good friends. Rowdy was the most generous person you could ever meet. He was always there to help a friend or even a total stanger. His heart was as big as Texas. We had a lot of good times together and shared plenty of bad times together as well, but like a friend; if you had a problem Rowdy would treat it like it was his own problem. You were never alone in bad times if Rowdy was there. His mother treated us like her own children when we were growing up and still does to this day. Rowdy, we will miss you.
