He recognized the call to ministry and attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois where he met Marian Myers and married her 6 months later. Ross was an ordained minister for the Church of the Nazarene for 46 years and pastored at several churches in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Texas. He also worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 5 years and Flambeau Plastic Corporation for 4 years. Ross was a member of the Richardson Church of the Nazarene in Richardson, Texas. He was a member of the Kiwanis Clubs in Allen and Bullard for many years and served as a Lt. Governor for the Texas Oklahoma District, Division 26 from 2006 to 2007.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, and writing stories. Ross was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing."
