“A Tribute to a Wonderful Sister”

Rosilyn Denice Goodrum Passing July 9, 2025

in Allen, TX

Rosilyn Denice Reed was born on February 22, 1956, to Mamie Christine Davis Reed and Conrad Puryear Reed in Nocona, Texas.

She is survived by a sister and brother, Reatha Reed Rivera with husband Glenn, and Coleman Reed with wife Vikki, Brother and Sister-in-law Bill and Catherine Goodrum, Aunt Catherine (Davis) and Uncle Maurice Scott, cousins Diane (Reed) Granbery, Becke (Reed) Freitas, Randy Reed, Cindy (Scott) Treat and Donald and Leslie Scott, and many nieces and nephews.

Rosilyn, or “Roz” as she was affectionately known attended and graduated in 1974 from South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida. Afterward, she began working in the banking industry. Shortly thereafter, she met and married the love of her life, John D Goodrum, on Feb 16, 1980; and they embarked on a happy life together. Both were Christians and shared their faith often.

Roz loved gardening, was a meticulous housekeeper and homemaker. She often won awards locally for her lawn and gardening. She was a wonderful neighbor and loved her neighbors, family and friends. She also enjoyed many years as a beauty consultant for Estee Lauder.

Roz’s husband, John, passed away on July 5, 2022 in Allen, Tx, their final home. The family will honor Roz’s wish for no funeral. She and John will be quietly placed together in a Companion Niche in the Butterfly Garden Columbarium located in Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Tx. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to John’s brother Bill Goodrum who helped Roz the most during these last 3 years of widowhood.

She loved her cats over many decades, the last one being “Zoe” who never left her side.

Roz holds a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

We are comforted with the truth of Scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
