Rose Marie Fuller (nee Dixon) was born to the late, Lizzie Dixon Cabaris and Wallace Dixon in Perry, Georgia, on March 16, 1938. Her life’s journey quietly ended the evening of April 25, 2020.
Rose graduated from Perry High School and matriculated from Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley, Georgia, and Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey.
She united in holy matrimony to Edward Fuller on June 26, 1964.
Rose’s career spanned over several locations and employers, including Amsterdam News, (New York, New York), Warner Robins Air Force Base, (Warner Robins, Georgia), the United States Marine Corps, (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and the Internal Revenue Service, (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). She later culminated her career by retiring from the Camden Board of Education (Camden, New Jersey).
As she journeyed along the Christian path, you could find Rose embodying Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV) “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Rose joined Ferry Avenue United Methodist Church in 1974 and was quickly called into service. Her labor within the body of Christ included: helping with the Worship Committee, Lay Leadership Committee, and Witness Committee; participating in the Disciple Bible Study, United Methodist Women, and Pastor Parish Relations; sufficing as the Chairperson of the Shepherds and the church’s Financial Secretary; and generating the weekly bulletins.
Rose adored working with the children of Ferry Avenue and trained the first group of Acolytes. She served on the Church School Staff and assisted with the youths’ plays, fundraisers, and trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, for the annual youth conferences. As a highlight, Rose thoroughly enjoyed making the Christian banners that were displayed in the sanctuary for several years.
Upon moving to Texas, Rose began attending Hamilton Park United Methodist Church and continued dedicating her life and service to Jesus Christ.
Rose was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Houser, and nephew Travis Dean.
Her legacy will be cherished by her husband of fifty-five (55) years, Edward Fuller; daughter, Tracey (James) Lagroom of Bowie, Maryland; son, Terrence (Michelle) Fuller and granddaughters, Michaela Justine and Tiffany Talia Fuller of Allen, Texas; sister, Sonja Dean of Perry, Georgia, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
