I have been thinking for many days what to say. I don't know what to say-- I want everyone to know that you were the best cousin a person could ever have. Malena and you were like sisters to us. You turned me on to the Doors and Janis Joplin, and pickles at la negritas. Chavez's snow cones were better because we bought them together. I loved cruising with you and going to Steffi's. You always knew so much more about boys than I did-- or at least you pretended to. I am sorry that we saw so little of each other after Tia Flerida died. We grew up and took different paths. But you will always be CHISPA to me, who put tobasco sauce on her fritos, and could outplay anyone in poker or Loteria. I am angry that someone could make you and Mark and the other boys suffer like you did. I don't like thinking of the horror, but I take comfort in knowing that your spirit was not broken. No one could take that away from you. I will always admire you for your courage and strength-- your will. I miss you, and I'm sorry. All my love to you, Prima Chispa. Elida Elida Tamez, March 27, 2004 We are so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. NADINE M OLVERA, March 19, 2004 Rosa, i miss the smile you always put on my face when i was down or sad and the way you always made me laugh. Carlos G Pabon, March 18, 2004 Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free I’m following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now; He set me free.
