IN LOVING MEMORY

Ronald Springer

Sep 26 1945 - Apr 05 2023

Ron Springer, age 77, of The Colony, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born September 26, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, to Jacob Valentine Springer and Margaret Elizabeth Nesbit Springer.  Ron married the love of his life, Karen Rose Giammusso Springer, on May 18, 1969, in Flushing New York, and they were blessed with two wonderful children, Monika and Ronald.

Ron leaves behind his beloved family here on earth to one day join him.  His daughter, Monika Marie Springer Honeycutt and her husband, Howie of Pensacola Beach, Florida. His son, Ronald Michael Springer and his wife, Sharon of Little Elm, Texas. His granddaughter, Savannah Rose and grandson, Brendan Michael. His nieces and nephews, Chris Springer, Randal Springer, Kevin Springer, Craig Springer, Laura O’Toole, Kristin Giammusso Edwards, and Robert Giammusso. His sisters-in-law, Lorraine Springer Sontag, and Barbara Enna.

Ron was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Karen Rose (Giammusso) Springer; his parents, Jacob Valentine Springer and Margaret Elizabeth (Nesbit) Springer; and Jacob and Kenneth Springer.

Ron attended P.S. 31 Elementary School, Marie Curie Middle School, and Bayside High School.  His first job was with Carvel Ice Cream and continued to use those ice-cream cake making skills during many a birthday party.  He next worked for Grumman Aerospace.  He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Lackland AFB, Sheppard Air Base, Spangdahlem Germany, and Libya Africa (TDY).  Ron spent the rest of his working career with American Airlines from 1969-2003.

Ron credits his experience in the Air Force for teaching him the values he most cherished…. teamwork, discipline, and investing in a cause larger than himself.  He would often explain to loved ones how these values contributed to his character.

Our dad always ensured he was there to support his family, extended family, neighbors, and friends.  He cherished sharing his knowledge and thoughts with the younger generations, was extremely generous with his time, and truly enjoyed helping any in need.  This was not more evident than in his love of playing Santa Clause for his family and the community for over 50 years.

Ron will be remembered for his strong Catholic faith, his love of family and friends, and of course his love of Disney.  He leaves behind a family who has and will continue to thrive due to his presence, work ethic, and character.  There is a new hole in our lives that will never be filled, but our lives are fuller because of the wonderful and hilarious memories we have as a family.

Ron Springer was a true American Patriot who loved God, Family, and Friends.
