Ronald Andrew Kinnard, of Allen, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 80.
Ron was born on August 21, 1945, in Bellville, Texas, to Leonza and Mattie (Edwards) Kinnard. He graduated from Austin County High School before continuing his studies at Prairie View A&M University. There, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, beginning a lifelong commitment to teaching and learning.
Ron devoted many years to educating young people. He taught fifth and sixth grade in San Antonio and later taught social studies and science in the Dallas Independent School District, where he served until his retirement in 2006. Even after retiring, his passion for education continued as he worked as a substitute teacher in the McKinney Independent School District.
Creating music was an important passion in Ron’s life. He had a deep love for music and found great joy in writing and producing songs, which were considered his true gifts. He possessed remarkable creativity, vision, and artistic ability, qualities known to everyone who knew and loved him.
Above all, Ron cherished time spent with his family. He loved sports and especially enjoyed coaching his children in football and basketball when they were young. Ron always offered unwavering support and was present for every important milestone in his children’s lives. His encouragement, enthusiasm, and presence left a lasting impact on them.
Ronald Andrew Kinnard will be remembered as a dedicated educator, a creative spirit, a devoted family man, and a supportive presence to all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kristen Kinnard of Allen, Texas; daughter, Tricia Kinnard and significant other, Melvin Johnson, of Houston, Texas; son, Brad North and wife, Rachel, of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Abby Gonzalez-Kinnard and wife, Ligia, of West Hartford, Connecticut; sister, Piccola Slater and husband, Arthur, of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Julius Kinnard of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law, Pat Webb of Allen, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him Uncle Ronnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonza and Mattie Kinnard, one brother, and five sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Sent Church, 3701 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive guests for visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday January 2, 2026 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
