IN LOVING MEMORY

Ron Barrett

Nov 22 1946 - Nov 23 2022

Ron Barrett of Plano, Texas passed away suddently on November 23, 2022 at the age of 76. He was born on November 22, 1946 to Harold Edward and Mary Carolyn (Fain) Barrett in Dothan, Alabama and was a founding member of Hunters Glen Baptist Church, Plano, Texas.

An avid outdoorsman, Ron loved hunting, fishing, camping and just being outdoors with his family and friends. He viewed the outdoors as God’s gift to man used that gift to teach the next generations to respect what God had provided.

He was the most steadfast of friends and would not hesitate to help someone in need. In particular, he had a mechanical gift and could fix anything mechanical or electronic and used that ability to help others on countless occasions. If he said to “call him if you need help” he legitimately meant you could call him at 2 in the morning and he would come running to help. Some would say that came from growing up on a farm and having to maintain equipment but that is only where he obtained the knowledge and experience. The willingness to use that knowledge to help others is what set him apart.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beth Barrett of Plano, Texas; son, Edward R. Barrett and wife, Sheri of Corinth, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Page Chandler and husband, Joe of Wylie, Texas; brother, Steven Ashley Barrett and wife, Jo Ellen of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Sue Embry and husband, John and their children; and many nieces and cousins, and had his most important role as “Papa Bear” to his grandchildren, Lane Barrett, Lauren Barrett, Jack Barrett, and Grayson Chandler.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  The service will be live streamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/ron-barrett.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available at the same link location.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Ducks Unlimited.
