IN LOVING MEMORY

Romelia "Kelly" Montana Peters

Feb 15 1971 - Mar 20 2020

Romelia (Kelly) Montana Peters of McKinney, Texas went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2020 at the age of 49. Kelly was born February 15, 1971 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas to her beloved parents, Domingo and Guadalupe Zapata. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Kelly experienced her beautiful and captivating smile and infectious laugh. She was a very loving, caring and giving person, always willing to help those in need. If she thought you needed something she would jump to get it for you. She had a soft spot for mothers and children in need. If Kelly saw a family walking and they were in need of a ride, she would stop and offer help. Kelly was bold, always did whatever she wanted and enjoyed taking risks to do what she felt was right.

Kelly loved her gold jewelry. You would never see her without a ring on almost every finger. She enjoyed her true crime movies, ID crime shows and never wanted to miss Saturday night cheaters at 10:00 p.m. If there was a crime story reported, you could ask Kelly and she would know every detail. She enjoyed photo crafts such as creating canvases and collages. Kelly would work days creating the perfect photo gifts for loved ones. It was hard work, but she loved to see the smiles on their face when they received these one of a kind gifts.

Kelly was the number one fan of Elvis Presley. Sirius XM radio was a must have, because she wanted to listen to Elvis all the time. Kelly was also a contestant on Sirius XM’s live radio show, the Elvis Quiz Show at Graceland in Tennessee. Kelly aired on the show and won by answering Elvis fan trivia questions! She even named her dog Elvis. Kelly and Elvis traveled everywhere together.

Kelly worked for Texas Health and Human Services in McKinney Texas as a clerk for nearly 14 years. She was a devoted employee and enjoyed assisting those in true need, especially the elderly.

Kelly is a loving wife to her late husband, David. They were high school sweethearts, married at age 16 and are now reunited for eternity in Heaven. She always said David “was her everything”.

Kelly is a loving daughter, mother, sister, nana and daughter-in-law. She adores her children and is very proud of their accomplishments. Kelly is the best daughter. She always put her parents first, and did everything in her power to help take care of them and make them happy. Kelly’s grandchildren are her pride and joy. She loved to spoil and spend time with them. She always had a smile when they were around. Kelly loved watching her grandkids at ball games, Chuck E Cheese, Jumpstreet, birthday events and their visits. Christmas was a special holiday. Kelly made sure her kids and grandkids had a mountain of presents to open on Christmas morning. She most enjoyed watching her family open the gifts from her.

Kelly is a blessing to our family and we cherish all of our memories with her. She will always be in our hearts and minds and will live with us forever.

Kelly is survived by her parents, Domingo and Guadalupe Zapata; children, David and wife, Celina, Brandon and wife, Kara, Christine and husband, Steffan, and Blake and wife, Haley; dearly loved grandsons, Aiden, Levi and Jhett; sister, Vanessa; niece, Jennifer; nephews, Ricky and Chad; aunts, Tina Humphrey and Lucy Cavazos; numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins all loved by Kelly; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Pam Peters; and sisters-in-law, Christi and husband, Carlos and Lorie and husband, Bob.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David Wayne Peters; grandparents, Juan P. Garcia, Sr., Eudelia C. Garcia; aunt, Eudelia (Leta) Gonzalez; and uncles, David A. Garcia and Hector Martinez.
