Romel Relopez Rosal passed from this earthly life and went home to Christ on July 3, 2023 at the age of 46 in McKinney, Texas. He was born July 7, 1976 in the Philippines to Emiliano Rosal and Nora Relopez. He attended high school and university in the Philippines. Romel met his beautiful Mahal Traci Ann Montoya on a mission trip to Afghanistan in 2003 and they were married on May 26, 2006 in Midland, Texas.
Romel had a pastor’s heart and was a missionary with Victory, Mid-Cities Church, and Every Nation Ministries. He liked to say, “For the sake of the call” and “If not you, who? If not now, when?”
Romel enjoyed connecting and meeting with friends all over the world. He was an intentional friend and mentor to many and a lover of all people. The proof of God’s goodness was evident in the love Romel gave to everyone and the life he lived. No matter what culture or nation, he felt comfortable mingling with people. He also enjoyed gardening, shopping, and he loved celebrating every holiday including the obscure ones. However, Christmas was his absolute favorite and he would count down the days until it came back around starting on day 365.
Romel also loved becoming an American citizen and appreciated the freedom to vote and serve with jury duty, city events, and such things most of us take for granted and ignore.
Romel is survived by his wife, Traci Rosal of Odessa, Texas; brother, Jonard Rosal and wife, Jocelyn of Caloocan City, Philippines with nieces Jonalyn and Jhasmine; sisters-in-law Chris Johnson and Martha Walker; sister and brother-in-law Adam and Lauren Carpenter with niece Abigail and nephew Kingston; father and mother-in-law Ron and Vonnie Walker; plus so many more family and friends that were also considered family spanning multiple continents.
Mostly, Romel loved Jesus. He loved worship music, prayer, church, and reading the Bible. He prayed every morning to begin the day with Jesus and tried to be open to showing that love to everyone he came across. Those of us left behind mourn, but we do not grieve as people without hope. Instead, we look forward to seeing Romel again.
