Roderick Ray Earnheart

Roderick Ray Earnheart was born on August 22, 1950 in Sherman, Texas to Philip Ray Earnheart and Margaret Hight Earnheart. He graduated from Whitewright High School in 1968. He married Debby Mathews on December 22, 1973 in Palestine, Texas. They were married for 48 years. He passed away June 25, 2022 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 71 years.

Rod was a lifelong resident of Whitewright. He was a third generation Funeral Director, working and managing his families’ Earnheart Funeral Home in Whitewright. He retired in 2007 when he and his family placed the funeral home in the care of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow. He then went to work at Hubbard Hardware downtown where he enjoyed visiting with people.

Rod was a man of many hobbies. Through the years, he was a Ham Radio Operator, a machinist building projects on his own lathe, a clock maker and repairer. He loved spending time in the warm Texas sun.

Rod was loving husband and father. He was proud to have raised two wonderful children, whom he proudly sent to Texas A&M University where they graduated.

Rod was a longtime member of the Rotary Club, the Oak Hill Cemetery Board, and the Whitewright Public Library board. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of the Whitewright Masonic Lodge No. 167 AF&AM. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitewright.

He is survived by his wife Debby Earnheart of Whitewright; son, Adam Earnheart and wife Tammi of Frisco; daughter, Amanda Boulis and husband Anthony of Seattle; granddaughter, Louie Rae Boulis; sisters, Phyllis Earnheart of Frisco, Lisa Neathery and husband Marc of Granbury; nephew, Cody Neathery of Ft. Worth; and cousin, Glen Earnheart and wife Angela of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Margaret Earnheart; and sister, Sue Earnheart.

Funeral Services will be held 3pm Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright. Rev. Jeremy Bassett will officiate. A private burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30pm until service time at 3:00pm.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Whitewright, the Whitewright Public Library, Oak Hill Cemetery Association, or the Whitewright Fire Department.
