On Saturday, April 30th, 2022, Roderick C. Hunter, loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 70. He was born on April 23, 1952 to Cecil T. and Gloria Hunter in Pensacola, Florida. Roderick attended Pensacola Catholic High and graduated with the class of 1971. He continued his education at Southern University, Home of the Jags, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana graduating in 1976. While at Southern University, Roderick met the love of his life, D’Audrey. Roderick and D’Audrey would go on to have two children, Roderick Jr. and Rashunda, ultimately settling down in Plano, Texas, enjoying 47-years of marriage.
Roderick enjoyed living life and being surrounded by family. He loved sitting on his back patio while listening to music, taking in the beauty of his backyard. He enjoyed watching cartoons, sports, westerns and supporting his beloved Southern Jaguars. Roderick was a man of few words but was loved and cherished by everyone he came into contact with because of his honest, sweet and calm spirit.
Roderick was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil T. Hunter, Jr.; mother, Gloria Hunter; father, Cecil T. Hunter; mother and father in-love, Altha Ree and John S. Willis; as well as his brothers in-love, OD Willis and John S. Willis, Jr.
Roderick is survived by his wife, D’Audrey; son Roderick Jr.; daughter, Rashunda; and grandson, Elijah. He also leaves behind four loving sisters, Mildred, Charlene (Andrew), Rosalind and Gloria (Lynn); eight brothers and sisters in-love who cared for him dearly, Fannie, Audrey, Crockett, Easter (Kenny), Katherine, John D (Gwen), Bruce (Rhonda) and Dorothy; and numerous other loving family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
A funeral service for Roderick will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Saint Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive, Plano 75075. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
