Roddah Jean Ewell of McKinney, Texas passed away on June 20, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born on December 8, 1943 to Lee Roy Hyde and Geraldine (Broadstreet) Hyde in Dallas, Texas. Roddah attended Adams High School in Dallas, Texas, where she was a cheerleader. After graduation she went to East Texas State University. Roddah went to work as a flight attendant and later as a trainer for American Airlines. While working for American Airlines Roddah met her husband, Cecil Ewell. They married on March 11, 1966. They had a wonderful marriage and the love they shared for each other was evident to anyone that saw them together. They enjoyed many adventures traveling around the world and creating memories together. They remained married until Cecil passed on March 13, 2020. They had one son, Brad, who got to enjoy many of these adventures with them. Roddah was a loving and devoted mother who prioritized her life around her son. Brad will always cherish the happy memories they had.
Roddah has been described by her friends as gregarious, caring, and generous. She lit up rooms when she walked in. She loved her friends and being around people. She was an amazing cook and loved to host her family and friends whenever she could. Many of these friends came from her work as a realtor.
Roddah was also a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren. She would take them to do many things and never seemed to run out of energy with them.
Roddah is survived by her son, Brad Ewell and wife, Pam of McKinney, Texas, and her grandchildren, Josie, Joy, and Jayson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil and her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
