IN LOVING MEMORY

Roberta Lee McFarland

Jun 04 1940 - May 20 2022

Today we celebrate the life of Roberta Lee McFarland; widow of Albert McFarland, mother of Marc, Bruce and Laura, grandmother to Benjamin, Daniel, Kristi, Matthew, Katie, Emma, Lilly, Brandon and great-granddaughter Nora.

Born the only child of Charles and Edith Treusch on June 4, 1940, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Roberta was raised in a Catholic home but found her true relationship with Jesus when she was born again on May 25, 1975.  She quickly found her calling to be a witness of God’s everlasting love and mercy to the lost and desolate while attending Gospel Tabernacle in Westminster, California.  Roberta didn’t have a wealth of possessions, but you would be hard pressed to find a person of greater faith than this woman of God.

Only God knows how many lives she impacted over the years for His glory, but if you were to ask anyone who met this precious lady, we know that they would agree that their lives were the better for it. She was the type of person whose zeal for the Lord was infectious and the joy that she projected followed her wherever she went.

Roberta showed her love for others in many ways. She prayed fervently for anyone who needed it. She brought church services to the elderly, taught the Bible to those who lacked understanding, and along with her husband, she began a church for the Romanian community in Garland, Texas. She was never too busy to take time for someone in need.

Roberta was also an avid painter.  She loved color, observing God’s creation with awe. She saw beauty everywhere she went and illustrated this through her artwork. Through her long battle with dementia, she never lost her sense of wonder and joy.

On Friday, May 20th, Roberta left this world and entered into the Father’s rest while in the presence of her loving family. All of us that carry the memories of her will treasure in our hearts her example of what it means to be a child of the King of Kings and Savior of the World.  We know that we will see her soon in His presence.

A Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of The Colony, 4880 S. Colony Blvd, The Colony, Texas 75056, on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the church beginning at 2:00 PM.
