Roberta L. Floyd age 88, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 15, 2008. She was born on August 11, 1920 , in McKinney, Texas, to R.W. “Ted” Floyd II and Georgia Huey Floyd. She grew up in McKinney and Denton, and earned her B.A. degree from Baylor University and a Masters from the University of North Texas. She also studied at Texas Tech, Stephen F. Austin, Michigan State University, and the University of Alaska. She worked during WWII as a secretary at Ashburn General Hospital in McKinney and at Headquarters, Eighth Service Command in Dallas. During her teaching career, she taught senior English in Frisco and Gainesville Texas, Izmir, Turkey, Clark Air Base in the Philippines, McKinney, and Midland Texas. She is survived by her nieces, Margaret Floyd Workman and husband Rusty of Dallas, Texas; Elizabeth Floyd Snider of Arlington, Texas; nephew William Robert Floyd and wife Barbara of Lufkin, Texas; and other loving relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm, Monday, November 17, 2008 at Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney, Texas.
