Robert Wayne Knight of McKinney, Texas passed away July 17, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born to Leroy Henson and Anne Elizabeth (Worden) Knight on July 15, 1944 in Dallas, Texas.
Bob graduated from Sunset High School, class of 1962. He studied business at the University of Texas at Arlington. On December 3, 1971 he married the love of his life, Joan Evans in Dallas, Texas. Bob and Joni gave birth to their son, Josh in 1973. Bob and Joni lived next door to Joni’s sister Gwen and her husband Robert Henderson in Lucas, Texas where they raised their children and had many adventures. Robert and Bob started Diversco, a custom label company in the early 70s through the mid 90s. Bob & Joni eventually landed in McKinney in 2005. Josh, Hollie, Madelyn & Olivia moved ½ mile away from them in 2007 where they have created countless memories together.
Bob was quite the outdoorsman. He treasured the annual dove hunts in Paducah, then couldn’t wait to crawl into a deer blind, or his truck, where he would usually fall asleep. He was a self-taught Horse Broker before he could even drive a car. His love of horses helped shape his life. He loved to play golf. Did you know they have port a potties on the golf course? Neither did Bob!
Bob never said no. His granddaughters will be the first to attest to that. Bob was the one you wanted on your side. He was honest, hardworking, kind, strong, and just a GOOD GOOD man. Bob could do anything. At least that is how we all felt about him. He made beautiful custom knives, he was extremely creative, he could build and repair just about anything and had the tools to prove it. Josh and Bob not only built a business together, but they were best friends. His love for Joni (his Pieface) was big. He wanted the world for her, and she would agree, he gave it to her.
Bob loved his family and friends fiercely. He adored and doted on his granddaughters and lit up when Maverick ran in the room yelling “Hi Papa”.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan Knight of McKinney, Texas; son, Josh Knight and wife, Hollie of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Madelyn Lytle and Olivia Knight; great grandson, Maverick Alaniz; sister-in-law, Gwen Henderson of McKinney, Texas; sister-in-law Chris Case and husband, Roger of Levelland, Texas, nieces, nephews and many treasured friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Knight, his aunt, Aline Worden and beloved nephew Mitch Henderson.
