Robert Sutherland, age 91, of Lucas, Texas, passed away January 12, 2018. Robert was born February 16, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Thomas Hugh and Gladys Ruth (Adams) Sutherland. He married Catherine Rose Sutherland on September 1, 1951, in Philadelphia. Robert was a pilot for United Airlines, retiring after thirty years of service. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his children, Joyce Sutherland Hammill and husband, Jeff of Colleyville, Texas, Robert Martin Sutherland and Charlotte Burns of Lucas, Texas, John Thomas Sutherland and wife, Patty of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Kathryn Sutherland Voss and husband, Keith of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Liana Sutherland and Carl Sutherland, both of Tyler, Texas, Allison Sutherland of Nagoya, Japan, William Frederick and Alexander Frederick, both of Scottsdale, Arizona, John Sutherland of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Nicholas Sutherland of Chicago, Illinois, and Stephen Sutherland and Katherine Sutherland, both of Apple Valley; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Sutherland of California and Alfred Sutherland of Oregon; sisters, Jean Draper and Jessie Taylor both of Pennsylvania; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Rose Sutherland, brother, Hugh Sutherland, and sister, Marjorie Finlay.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2701 West Southlake Blvd., Southlake, Texas, 76092.
