Robert Stanley Johnson of Plano, Texas passed away March 2, 2022 at the age of 79. He was born on August 6, 1942 to Richard and Florence Johnson in Aruba. Robert was a 1960 graduate of Cranford High School in Cranford, New Jersey. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After graduation, Robert worked in the insurance industry which ultimately led him to open his own office. He married the late Shirley Marie (Kelly) Johnson on February 3, 1968 in Nashville, Tennessee and they enjoyed many years of marriage before her passing. Robert was a firm believer in learning and higher education. Robert enjoyed the outdoors especially baseball, softball, and he was an avid runner. Robert also enjoyed listening to music, painting, and traveling, particularly Saba, The Caribbean Island. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Robert will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Stan Johnson and wife, Jerie of Flower Mound, Texas, Scott Johnson and wife, Katie of Plano, Texas, and David Johnson of Plano, Texas; grandson, Tristan Johnson of Flower Mound, Texas; sister, Deanna McDowell and husband, Keith of Chicago; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Marie Johnson and parents.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
